The moment that a TTC driver has the authority to call dispatch asking for the police, get off the train and wait for the police to arrive -just because I did not have a transfer ticket!
The interruption on the subway line took us to TTC buses/trains. I needed to connect to 1 TTC Bus, and 2 TTC trains to get to destination! Why did I needed a transfer coming out strait from the TTC platform to the TTC Bus?
However, the TTC driver on the last part of this trip; the second train and fourth TTC unit to take me to my destination, had the power to call the police and stop service, because I did not have a transfer ticket...The driver did not care to think about the effect of his actions on the passengers affected! He did not believe and did not care to validate my arguments with his own coworkers at the station. I was upset, and accepted the explanation of another passenger to get off the train for the benefit of all other passengers on that train.
What is the alternative ? Private industries will not tolerate employees attitudes to customers. However, for the TTC Management, UNION, and politicians, this driver behavior is totally acceptable
TTC Management and UNION have the responsibility to measure consequences on their business model and alternatives they take when their systems fails to operate
