Last year, in the wee hours of March 28, 2009, I saw my partner off to Mexico before a night of drinking. Long story short, that evening ended with me catching the 63 Ossington at about 5:20 in the morning, drunk as all hell, and after passing out for more than an hour, I hopped off the bus at Queen West just before 7. I took the seat behind the plexiglass partition directly in front of the exit, so the fact that I had been an intoxicated pile of unconscious, drool-soaked awesome for at least two full trips was obviously not lost on any of that morning's passengers—to say nothing of the drivers, either the younger gentleman who picked me up or the much older operator who got me to Queen. Later, when the hangover (eventually) subsided, I realized that I had slept through at least two shift rotations, either at Ossington, Liberty Village, or Eglinton West, and thanked my lucky stars that none of the drivers—and I'm sure there were more than two—kicked my drunk ass off the bus into the cold.
So my question is this: what's the policy you guys follow when it comes to guys like me that night? Does the TTC lay out strict rules that say drunk patrons can only be on the bus for so long, or does it matter unless said patrons are disorderly?
Most importantly, though, thanks. Especially if you were one of the drivers that morning. Tall, green jacket, probably reeked of whisky—I was pretty hard to miss.
